We all make mistakes, but we’re not all mayor of New York City – that’s a special honor held by one Bill De Blasio who apologized today for accidentally clearing protestors after mistaking them for Jews. “With all the head coverings, you understand…” he explained, “It was an honest mistake.”

The event happened at 4 PM this afternoon. De Blasio sent out a cryptic tweet saying, “My message to the Jewish community is that you are in violation of social distancing and must clear the streets immediately.” Riot police had already been sent to end the unrest with extreme prejudice when the New York mayor learned of his mistake.

De Blasio tried to abort the mission when he learned that the gathering was in fact hundreds of thousands of unruly rioters as opposed to a few hundred Orthodox Jews, but, unfortunately, his order came too late. The rioters were cleared and it’s unclear exactly how he plans to recover from this costly mistake.
