Wow. Heroes come in all shapes and sizes, but they’re all one thing on the inside and that is brave. Local woman and coffee shop employee Emily Mattis recently demonstrated this fact by taking a public stand in support of the only cause she’s allowed to support without losing her job. Powerful stuff!
Customers who walked into The Beanery were awed by her risky stance in support of the political group that everyone is required to support without risking complete social ostracization. “I really admire what she’s doing,” said one regular to the coffee shop as they got down on their knee and said the canonized named of all black people shot by the police before somberly drinking their latte.
The Beanery’s owner said he was surprised and proud when he saw what Emily was doing, “As a small business owner, I think this is great. I also am a firm believer in this cause which I hope will not trash or cancel my small, local business. I am so sorry for being white.”
