The annual 9/11 Tribute in Lights almost didn’t happen this year due to concerns that pointing two giant lasers into the sky could cause a reemergence of COVID-19. The virus’s affinity for patriotically themed public gatherings is well known. However, luckily for all, a solution was found that will let the memorial go on as planned after the 9/11 Tribute committee released a powerful statement in favor of defunding the police, which, obviously is much more important than public safety.

“We the 9/11 Tribute Committee commit to completely and totally defunding the police, firemen, paramedics and all other, frankly, racist first responders. It’s time to admit that we should have prioritized the historically oppressed people of this country and not tried to unified under a disgusting ‘color-blind’ banner of patriotism.”

Wow. Powerful words. I don’t know about you, but for the first time, this reporter actually might give a f*ck about this dumbass light show.
